SKS - Association of Cultural Heritage Education in Finland
The Association of Cultural Heritage Education in Finland is a national non-governmental expert organization in cultural heritage and culturally sustainable education.
The mission of the Association is to influence, promote, develop cultural heritage education and culturally sustainable education both at national and European level. It aims at strengthening the cultural competence of children and youth and supporting identity building, involvement in culture and society, and the fulfilment of cultural rights.
The Association helps professionals to integrate cultural heritage in their work with children and youth in formal and informal education/learning by producing teaching materials, organising training, developing heritage education methods and by disseminating information.
The Association also participates in expert working groups, drafts statements on laws, policies, strategies, implementation plans and national guidelines connected to cultural heritage, education, youth, cultural landscape and sustainability.
The partners of the Association include the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of the Environment, the Finnish National Agency for Education, and the National Board of Antiquities as well as different organizations and associations, schools and educational establishments, museums, archives, World Heritage Sites, and professionals and experts in different fields.
